2010 MAJ MONOLOGUES COMPETITION - WINNERS ANNOUNCED

The finals for the fifth annual Maj Monologues Competition were held last Saturday night, 26 June.  It is with great pleasure that for the first time in the history of the Competition we advise the $3,000 Judges’ Choice winner and the $1,000 Australia Post Peoples’ Choice award was won by Therese Edmonds for her monologue Shelley Kelly’s Day O’ Destiny performed by actor Arielle Gray.

The $500 Astrid Jackson Encouragement award was awarded to Chelsea Anderson-Crowe for the monologue A Brush with a Hood performed by actor Alison Van Reeken.

Congratulations to our eight finalists who have made it to the MAJ MONOLOGUES COMPETITION - THE FINALS

Chelsea Anderson-Crowe (A Brush with a Hood),  Nicola Bradbury (Don't Order the Jelly), Judith Bridge (D'you Understand What I Mean?), Therese Edmonds (Shelley Kelly's Day O'Destiny), Paula L Kay (What's the Game, Mister Wolf?), Steven Kuterescz (A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Theatre This Evening), Ian Toyne (The Domino Effect) and Heather Wilson (Office Gossip).

THE JUDGES:
The judges of the Maj Monologues Competition are all highly-regarded theatre professionals in Western Australia: 
Craig Williams, Jenny McNae, Hellie Turner and Tim Schoenmakers.

THE ACTORS: Arielle Gray, Damon Lockwood, Monica Main, Leanne Page, Alison van Reeken, Whitney Richards,
Ben Sutton and Ian Toyne.

CATEGORIES AND PRIZES:

Judges’ Choice $3,000
Australia Post Peoples' Choice $1,000
Astrid Jackson Encouragement Award $500

All prizes will be awarded following the final performance on Saturday 26 June.
